These Pigs in a blanket, aka little smookies in a crescent roll, are the perfect party snack. And with the superbowl rolling around next month this is the perfect appetizer to bring along with you!
This is our spin on the classic pigs in a blanket recipe, but still just as easy! We decided to braid the crescent roll dough around the little smokies to give them a fancier look! And to top it off, we glazed the little nuggets with a melted butter, parsley and garlic glaze. I mean, can it get any better then that!
Honestly, these little guys are good just like that right out of the oven. But they taste great dipped right into the left over butter and garlic glaze, or a yummy homemade cheese dip. Either way, this is the perfect snack to share with your loved ones and friends! They will be quickly devoured so make sure to save some for yourself!
Quick and Easy Pigs in a Blanket
These Little Smokies Crescent Roll appetizers with a garlic and butter glaze are melt in your mouth yummy! They are an ideal party fare and perfect for dipping!
Ingredients
- 1 package Little Smokies cocktail wieners
- 3 package crescent roll dough
- 1 stick of salted butter
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 1/2 tsp crushed garlic
Instructions
Wrapping the Dough instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line baking sheets with parchment.
Pop open the dough and roll dough into a large ball.
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into a large and long rectangle. Dough should be about 1/4 inch thick.
Slice the dough into narrow strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
Starting with three strips, press the three strips together at the top of each strip.
Proceed to braid the three strips all the way down, pressing the ends together when complete.
Cut each braid strip into 3 inch pieces (should get about 2-3 pieces).
Wrap each smokie with one braid strip of crescent roll dough.
Place each pigs in a blanket on a sheet pan.
Garlic Butter Glaze/dip:
Melt 1 stick of salted butter in the microwave.
Add the parsley, garlic salt, and garlic and stir to combine.
Spread the glaze over each pigs in a blanket.
Place in preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes or until crescents are golden brown.
Glaze the pigs in a blanket once again with the garlic butter glaze. Can use as a dip as well.
Notes
1. Feel free to make your own dinner roll dough from scratch if wanted. This is just the easier way to make it if you are looking to make something last minute. --- 2. This recipe uses dried parsley, but fresh would be just fine too. --- 3. If the braids are too hard or too time consuming, just roll out the dough straight from the container, and slice each crescent slice in half. Then proceed to roll around the little smokies and glaze with garlic butter. --- 4. Depending on your altitude, the rolls might need more time to cook in the oven. Just cook until gold brown on top and on the bottom.
