It is super easy to make as well, and a general rule of thumb for all marinades is the longer you marinade the better the flavor. Like our grilled Hawaiian chicken for example, you have to at a minimum marinade the chicken over night! It is a labor of love but it is so worth it. The same goes for this recipe, the longer the better! So I love marinating this Italian chicken over night to get a super flavorful chicken thigh.

Oh and never use chicken breasts! We rarely use chicken breast in the Ragar household. Thighs are just so juicy that once you use thighs you will never go back to breasts! Occasionally we use chicken breast when we want a healthier dinner, but in most cases you will always see us using chicken thighs.

Don’t fret though, if you forget to marinate over night, this chicken will still taste fantastic with an hour or two in the fridge soaking in the wonderful mixed sauce. The sauce itself is only 4 ingredients: bbq sauce, Italian dressing, Pappy’s Choice Seasoning, and hot sauce. You mix those all on up, and then in a bag you add chicken to the sauce and let it marinate to soak up all those wonderful flavors!

Then I promise you once that chicken comes off the grill, it will be eaten so fast it is like you never even made dinner! It is so good and I love eating it with our perfectly boiled corn on the cob or our garlic mashed potatoes. Yum yum yum! Can’t wait for you to make this chicken and realize it is a keeper for your household! Comment below letting us know what you think and always make sure to go and get fooding!

Notes

1. We love using Ken's Italian dressing for this recipe, mainly because we always have it on hand. But any oil based Italian dressing will work wonderfully. --- 2. We love using Pappy's choice seasoning in the recipe, but any meat seasoning will work great. --- 3. Try and marinate the chicken as long as possible. The longer it marinates, the more flavorful the chicken will be. --- 4. This chicken will last in the fridge after being cooked for up to 5 days. --- 5. If you don't have a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken, cook the chicken until the juices when pushed out runs clear and not pink. Also, the chicken should shred easily.
