These juicy hamburger patties are a perfect tailgating or get together dinner item to grill for all your friends and family. You might be the type to just grab a bag of frozen patties cause it is just too hard to make a good hamburger patty from scratch. Stop that! There is no room in the world for frozen hamburger patties when it is so easy to make a great juicy patty, like these ones!

And we have a few tricks up our sleeves to make them super tender and melt in your mouth worthy. We put, drum roll please…. bread crumbs and eggs in our meat! These two ingredients added with a little salt, pepper, and olive oil make your hamburger patties top notch and restaurant quality! The first time I sunk my teeth into this, I was blown away by how dang good it was! And to think it was just your average run of the mill ground beef that you buy at the store was mind boggling!

I will warn you though, you will have to put a little time into preparing these patties and let them sit in the fridge on a sheet pan with parchment paper for a time to harden up and soak in the salt and pepper. Once they have sat in the fridge, you pull them out to come to room temp and then grill to perfection. If you put on the patties on the grill cold, they will not cook properly, and the center will remain cold and the edges will burn too fast. We don’t want that!

Anyway, these burger patties are incredible and we want to share this recipe with the world! Serve these patties on a lovely brioche bun, and a side of homemade onion rings with a good helping of our homemade copycat Chick Fil A sauce. More weekend bbq parties are coming up with summer here so make sure to whip up these patties the next time around! Happy Get Fooding!

These juicy hamburger patties are a perfect tailgating or get together dinner item to grill for all your family and friends! Melt in your mouth juicy with every bite!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef, thawed
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

1

In a bowl add your ground beef, bread crumbs and egg. Mix together well. You should be able to easily form a patty. If you can't, add more bread crumbs a little at a time. Once it can be formed, the meat is ready.

2

Form the meat into 4 equal patties. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

3

Place patties on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and place in the refrigerator for a least 30 minutes up to a day. Longer is preferred, if you have time.

4

Pull out the patties 15-30 minutes before grilling and season again with salt and pepper, and drizzle olive oil over both sides of the meat. Roll the sides of the patties in the salt and pepper and olive oil as well. Let the patties sit as they come up to room temp, to soak in the seasonings.

5

Heat the grill as hot as it will go. Once hot, place the patties on the hottest part of the grill.

6

Grill each side of the patty for about 4 minutes per side. There should be nice grill marks on each side.

7

If you are adding cheese to the patties, add those to the top of each after the first flip. Close the lid to help the cheese melt. If it isn't completely melted before taking off the grill, that is okay. The cheese will continue to melt after grilling.

8

Serve the patties immediately. It would be best to prepare your buns and sides before pulling the meat off the grill. Enjoy!

Notes

1. We used 80/20 ground beef from the grocery store. Feel free to use a different percentage of meat, but more fat in the meat will cause the meat to shrink. So less is more 🙂 --- 2. We season our meat with simple spices. If you want to jazz up the flavor, adding paprika, garlic, or McCormick's steak seasoning is great too! --- 3. Some great toppings for hamburgers include cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, bacon, avocados, and grilled onions.
